Artist statement

Abstract painting with broad red and black brushstrokes, gray shapes, and textured layers.

The interface between randomness and consciousness presents for me a spiritual and expressive potential that is the space I explore in my painting. Straddling the realms of abstraction and representation, I employ a diverse range of painterly and graphic techniques that allow intuition and calculation to intersect.

My hope is that the finished paintings to appear to the viewer as they do to me—found objects, certain, yet fragmentary, imbued with a sense of belonging to a larger narrative.
